‘Gems in Comms’…with Sudha Singh, Founder of The Purpose Room

Hosted by Hanson Search Advisor Ebony Gayle, the series provides real experiences from established Black, Asian and Ethnic minority professionals working in the PR and communications industry sharing valuable and impactful insights about their career journeys, racism at work, thoughts on diversity and what makes a good working environment.

This week for our next ‘Gems in Comms’ podcast episode we speak to Sudha Singh, Founder of The Purpose Room, a consultancy advising businesses on equity & inclusion, resilience and sustainability & ESG communications strategy across geographies including UK and India. Her passion is supporting organisations interpret the ’S’in ESG and define their sustainability communications strategy.

She has over 30 years experience counselled C-Suite of multinationals, governments, industry associations and NGOs across geographies including UK and India. Her expertise lies in building robust partnerships to manage complex thought leadership and crisis projects. She has advised clients faced with regulatory, political and environmental challenges as well as those facing union and civil society activism.

She is a certified EDI trainer advising clients on creating measurable frameworks for culture change and diversity in leadership. She hosts The Elephant in the Room podcast, a platform to amplify the voices of diverse people on a range of topics including systemic and institutionalised racism, equity & inclusion casteism, discrimination, poverty, mental health, climate change, anything that is a taboo and deserves to be mainstream(including culture).

Sudha has run(designed) programs/workshops/sessions for large multinationals and charities on organisational culture, women returners programme; effective communications for (diverse) leaders/managers; intersectionality; Being heard; Unconscious bias; Gender sensitive communications/inclusive language etc.

She is the Chair of the PRCA Ethnicity & Inclusion Advisory Council and a founding member of PRCA Race and Ethnicity Equity Board(REEB). Last year Sudha was nominated on the Provoke Media Innovator 25 EMEA 2021.
