‘Gems in Comms’…with Advita Patel, founder of CommsRebel

‘Gems in Comms’ is a new podcast series launched by Hanson Search in association with 9to5workrebels, exploring working experiences of Black, Asian, and Ethnic Minority talent in the UK PR and Communications industry.

Hosted by Hanson Search Advisor Ebony Gayle, the series provides real experiences from established Black, Asian and Ethnic minority professionals working in the PR and communications industry sharing valuable and impactful insights about their career journeys, racism at work, thoughts on diversity and what makes a good working environment.

On this week’s ‘Gems in Comms’ podcast episode we speak to Advita Patel. Advita is the founder of CommsRebel, an internal communication and employee experience consultancy, the co-founder of A Leader Like Me, a global membership programme which helps underrepresented women of colour succeed further in their career and the co-founder of CalmEdgedRebels, a Coaching Retreat for professionals who want to live up-to their potential. She is also a co-host two podcasts, an award-winning podcast called CalmEdgedRebels and Amplifying Diverse Voices – A Leader Like Me podcast.

Advita helps organisations cultivate inclusive cultures through effective communications so all colleagues can belong and thrive in their work. She is also an experienced confidence coach/mentor and works with teams and individuals to help them achieve their goals with confidence.

Advita has spoken at various events and appeared on several podcasts where she speaks about internal communications, measurement, inclusion and confidence. She is a chartered PR practitioner, and a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations. In 2022 she was named on the Northern Asian Power list and was the judges choice for the Emerging Leader Award. This year she was also commissioned to write a book, with her business partner Priya Bates, to help communicators cultivate inclusive cultures. The book will be published in June 2023.
