‘Gems in Comms’…with Caroline Bernard, MA MCIPR

‘Gems in Comms’ is a new podcast series launched by Hanson Search in association with 9to5workrebels, exploring working experiences of Black, Asian, and Ethnic Minority talent in the UK PR and Communications industry.

For this week’s episode on our podcast series ‘Gems in Comms’ we speak to Caroline Bernard. Caroline is Head of Influence in the Senior Leadership Team at Respect, the second tier body for the domestic abuse perpetrator sector. As well as other roles, Caroline was Head of Policy and Communications at Homeless Link, the National Skills Academy for Social Care, and she was Deputy Chief Executive at Counsel and Care prior to its merger with Independent Age. Caroline’s route into policy, communications and public affairs was very much non-traditional, having spent the first part of her career working in the private sector before moving into the charity world via central government in 2000.

Caroline is a Charity Comms mentor and is passionate about diversity and lived experience within the PR profession and the third sector – she believes the mantra “nothing about us without us” has never been more important to remember.
