Our client is looking for an Associate Director to join their thriving Public Affairs and Communications firm in Brussels, supporting renowned industries and brands in engaging with European Institutions and stakeholders. They provide an array of public affairs services, from basic monitoring and political intelligence to strategic guidance and advocacy campaign support across diverse policy sectors. Additionally, they offer advice on both European communications strategies and increasing visibility within EU-Brussels media.

As an Associate Director, you’ll manage teams and client portfolios while helping the growth of the Agri-Food and Healthcare Practice. The ideal candidate will be someone who is experienced in both agriculture and food sectors, preferably with consultancy or trade association background; demonstrating entrepreneurial drive, a knack for winning new business (or members for associations), a deep grasp of EU policies, and the ability to offer high-quality advice across diverse policy areas. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide informed support and advice to key clients based on sector knowledge and policy intelligence.
  • Develop strong client relationships, overseeing advocacy and communication campaigns.
  • Represent clients in contact programs, conduct analyses, and lead internal and client meetings.
  • Manage budgets for client portfolios.
  • Collaborate with both the Agri-Food Director and MD to strengthen the policy and regulatory
  • Mentor junior colleagues, lead new business projects and nurture a strong network.
  • Support marketing strategies, contribute articles and devise business plans for competitive expansion within Brussels and beyond, in collaboration with the Agri-Food Director.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience in EU public affairs, showcasing a deep understanding of agri-food sectors and intricate EU policies. Prior roles within public affairs consultancy or relevant in-house or trade association positions.
  • Leadership qualities, with a track record in guiding and managing teams, a valuable asset in fostering collaboration and achieving collective goals.
  • Specialised expertise in EU agri-food policies, emphasising their significant impact on clients’ business strategies and operations.
  • Strong entrepreneurial drive and keen business acumen, vital for navigating complex policy landscapes effectively.
  • Proven track record in effective time management, consistently meeting deadlines, and adeptly handling tasks independently.
  • Exceptional networking, communication, writing and presentation skills, crucial for impactful engagement in the public affairs sphere.
