Join a leading organisation at the forefront of the smart meter rollout in Great Britain. As the Policy Manager, you will play a pivotal role in delivering our policy programme, supporting their strategic aims, and driving the promotion and implementation of smart meters. Reporting to the Senior Policy Manager and working within the Corporate Affairs Directorate, your work will be instrumental in overcoming barriers and promoting the benefits of smart meters in the evolving energy sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the policy programme in alignment with strategic objectives, collaborating closely with the Senior Policy Manager and the Corporate Affairs team.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on the energy sector and the role of smart meters.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify and develop potential improvements for the smart meter rollout policy, engaging stakeholders in this context.
  • Generate and present compelling evidence to drive stakeholder engagement and promote smart meters as essential to a net-zero future and consumer participation in the energy system.
  • Apply high-quality methodologies to develop evidence-based policy views.
  • Communicate policy views with clear, compelling arguments and supporting evidence, aiding the wider team in advocating for the policy aims.
  • Represent the Corporate Affairs Directorate in cross-directorate working groups, addressing segmented audiences such as the private rented sector, microbusinesses, and consumers in vulnerable circumstances.
  • Provide regular policy updates across the organization, compiling briefings on key consultations and decisions for senior leadership.
  • Represent the organisation at third-party stakeholder events.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience monitoring and analysing complex policy environments, conveying relevant impacts on an organization, and advising on appropriate approaches.
  • Experience developing policy positions and materials based on a strong and sophisticated evidence base.
  • Proficiency in communicating complex policy aims and broader thought leadership through clear and compelling materials and arguments.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Appreciation for the diversity of Great Britain’s people and communities, and the ability to embrace this diversity in your work approach.
