Our client is a highly acclaimed global communications and public affairs consultancy, looking for a Director of Public Affairs to join their team in Berlin. This international consultancy focuses on enhancing their clients’ reputation, engaging with their audiences and building stronger relationships with key stakeholders, to ensure a successful and impactful presence in their operating environment. 

As Director – Head of Public Affairs, you will be responsible for leading and developing the Public Affairs practice while providing strategic counsel to clients for impactful outcomes. As a senior member in the Berlin office, this role involves co-managing the office and promoting integration with the other offices in Germany.

Key Responsibilities:   

  • Support the German Managing Director, lead the Public Affairs practice and collaborate with other teams. 
  • Create the Public Affairs business plan, and make strategic decisions to benefit overall business growth. 
  • Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities, leveraging a strong professional network. 
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, delivering insightful PA strategies. 
  • Lead and develop the Public Affairs team and their career development. 
  • Collaborate with senior staff for effective operational management and contribute to marketing and promoting Public Affairs services. 
  • Work closely with all other senior staff in the German management team and their direct reports, to ensure the effective operational management of the business including providing senior counsel.   

Key Requirements:    

  • Deep understanding of clients’ markets, target audiences, and effective routes to market.  
  • Proven ability to drive profitable growth according to plan.  
  • Strong organizational skills, capable of managing multiple tasks and adapting to changes. 
  • Demonstrate personal drive, passion and the ability to lead and manage change effectively. 
  • Excel in strategic and creative problem-solving. 
  • Adaptable personal style and approach, with the ability to remain calm and authoritative during challenging situations.  
  • Inspiring and supportive team leader, fostering motivation and growth. 
  • Curiosity and a commitment to continuous learning and development. 
  • Excellent written and spoken English language skills for effective collaboration with other markets.
