We’re recruiting a Government Affairs & Public Policy Director Job in the GCC region.

The Director of Government Affairs & Public Policy for the GCC region will be responsible for developing and executing Government Affairs & Public Policy initiatives across the GCC, aligned with the International GAPP department and country leadership teams. The role will involve engaging with external stakeholders to ensure alignment with the company’s strategic business objectives.

The company is a biotechnology firm that specialises in developing therapies for serious diseases, primarily focusing on cystic fibrosis. The firm is committed to research and development, exploring treatments for additional conditions such as sickle cell disease and type 1 diabetes. With a global presence, the company is recognised as a leader in the biotech industry, known for its innovative approaches to addressing unmet medical needs.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with colleagues across various functions to shape public policy and advance corporate goals. A strong background in government affairs, particularly in the biopharmaceutical sector, along with experience in rare diseases or gene and cell therapies, is essential.

This role requires upholding the highest ethical standards, adhering to the company’s corporate policies, and maintaining the company’s values in all interactions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development and implementation of Government Affairs & Public Policy strategies for the company in the GCC region.
  • Represent the company in key industry forums and engage with relevant stakeholders, including government officials, regulatory bodies, and industry associations.
  • Proactively monitor, analyse, and respond to changes in pharmaceutical, healthcare, and regulatory policies impacting the business.
  • Provide strategic advice on public policy matters, ensuring alignment with their business goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Uphold and promote the company’s core values, ensuring the highest standards of ethics and compliance in all activities.
Key Requirements:
  • Proven experience in Government Affairs & Public Policy, ideally within the pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical sector, or in government or public administration.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare systems, particularly relating to rare diseases and/or gene and cell therapies.
  • Relevant academic qualifications or equivalent.
  • High energy and passion for patient-focused healthcare, science, and innovation.
  • Strong ethical standards with the ability to fully comply with regulatory, legal, and industry codes of conduct.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as required.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic.
