Our client seeks a Director to join their dynamic Public Affairs team in Brussels. Their services span from fundamental monitoring and political insights to strategic counsel and support for advocacy campaigns across various policy areas. They provide strategic advice and guidance on European communication strategies and enhancing visibility within EU-Brussels media, institutions and wider stakeholders.

As a Public Affairs Energy and Environment Director, you’ll be responsible for developing the strategy and bringing the vision to the team. You will manage client portfolios, providing strategic advice to global clients on various topics from chemicals, eco-design, air quality or other environmental issues.

They are looking for someone who is experienced and interested in both environment and energy sectors, preferably with consultancy or trade association background; demonstrating entrepreneurial drive, a knack for winning new prospects a deep grasp of EU policies, and the ability to offer high-quality advice across diverse policy areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategy development, leadership and responsibility for Energy and Environment Team and offer in Brussels
  • Develop strong client relationships, providing a comprehensive strategic overview of all clients and prospective client services ensuring they are informed by broad intelligence-gathering on client, sector, competitors and policy environment
  • Nurture, inspire and lead the wider team, including through agreeing a training strategy for all individuals
  • Manage budgets for client portfolios, undertake financial management, including invoicing, monthly accounts and budgeting
  • Support marketing strategies, contribute articles and devise business plans for competitive expansion within Brussels and beyond

Key Requirements:

  • Deep experience in EU public affairs, regulatory and policy in environment and energy sectors
  • Demonstrate leadership skills, with a proven history of guiding and overseeing teams, which is a valuable asset in promoting cooperation and attaining shared objectives
  • Strong entrepreneurial drive and keen business acumen, vital for navigating complex policy landscapes effectively.
  • Exceptional networking, communication, writing and presentation skills, crucial for impactful engagement in the public affairs sphere.
