The Associate Director of External Communications holds a senior, high-profile role managing relationships with global and national media, while overseeing the bank’s digital presence and serving as a speechwriter for the President. The role involves change management, budget oversight, and strategic formulation, as well as formulating and executing the strategy for the Communications Department. Extensive managerial experience in communications or journalism, networking skills, and crisis management aptitude are vital.

Key Responsibilities:    

  • Lead creation of top-quality editorial content across various channels, maintaining standards and enhancing the Bank’s image
  • Manage crisis communications, safeguarding the Bank’s reputation and integrity
  • Supervise and develop a team, optimizing work allocation, skill enhancement, and digital publishing proficiency
  • Deputy role for key directors and contribute to the Bank’s communications strategic plan
  • Guide design, user experience, and functionality of digital products
  • Advise and craft speeches for the President, guide media appearances, and collaborate with other teams
  • Foster strong internal and external networks, oversee digital media guidelines, and ensure ethical conduct

Key Requirements:    

  • Bring extensive senior-level experience in communications and journalism to the role, backed by a proven track record of achievements
  • Demonstrate a profound understanding of the array of communication channels and platforms, enhancing the ability to effectively reach diverse audiences
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of the Bank’s regions, including a deep understanding of the dynamic media landscape and research industry. This expertise encompasses both traditional and digital media, ensuring a strategic and holistic approach
  • Showcase a robust leadership background, marked by the skilful management of high-performing teams, fostering collaboration and excellence
  • Exhibit proficient crisis management skills, consistently maintaining a composed demeanour during periods of heightened stress
  • Display exceptional versatility in writing, capable of crafting content across a spectrum of contexts, from impactful social media messages to delivering eloquent high-profile speeches
  • Leverage strong technical skills encompassing exceptional written and oral communication, organization, leadership, media trends, persuasion, and negotiation
