Are you looking to make big changes in your branding approach this year? Wondering what your hiring strategy should look like? To help you get ahead of the competition, our consultants have outlined their branding hiring predictions and major trends that will affect the industry in 2016.

Branding Hiring Predictions

With technology and design increasingly lining up, 2016 looks to be a big period of change within the branding market. Integration of insights and futures teams into branding agencies will be increasingly common in 2016. Authenticity will also be a priority. Thanks to the power of social media, brands are talking directly to consumers. In 2016, successful branding teams will be the ones that are communicating simply and transparently. Focus will need to be less on ‘selling’ the brand and more on authenticity.

  • Collaboration. As everything becomes more integrated, 2016 will see graphic, interior and product designers and technicians combining expertise to create a 360-degree branding. The role of branding will require talent with interdisciplinary knowledge. Clients should look to hire talent not just with expertise but also a flexibility and an openness to collaborate.
  • Lack of Talent. Creative teams will be looking to hire graduates from alternative backgrounds, Fine Art Institutions for instance, to bulk out teams which suffered last year from a lack of talent. Outstanding portfolios will be required.
  • Senior Level. Big shifts in client services mean a few major agencies are in need of strong leadership in client development and business development. We anticipate further shifts in the industry meaning more senior level hiring.
