This is an exciting job opportunity for a Public Affairs Director to join one of the top global communications consultancies in Brussels – specialising in lobbying, political campaigns and advocacy work for some of the world’s leading companies and brands. Building recognition and enhancing reputation are important aspects of their public affairs and public relations work.

Our client is seeking a Director for its Brussels Advocacy team who possesses exceptional leadership skills and an entrepreneurial mindset. As a Director you will have the opportunity to collaborate with prominent stakeholders in Brussels and throughout Europe, operating across a range of sectors such as trade, food & drink, sustainability and chemicals. In addition to driving the growth of the business, you will assume responsibility for managing, coaching and mentoring team members. It is also essential to collaborate with colleagues in both the London and Dublin offices, as well as the broader Brussels team, to offer clients a fully integrated service.

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Develop and lead the strategic direction of the Advocacy and Public Affairs team in Brussels.
  • Provide comprehensive client counsel based on political environments and advise on effective engagement.
  • Cultivate a strong business network in Brussels and Europe, creating opportunities for cross-selling and upselling with other Group offices.
  • Maintain senior-level client relationships, identify opportunities, and address potential threats.
  • Oversee research for new business pitches and collaborate with the Talent team in identifying and developing the team.
  • Ensure financial management, quality assurance, and compliance while facilitating internal communications and team coordination.

 Key Requirements:  

  • Proven track record in EU public affairs, preferably with consultancy or client-service background.
  • Ability to understand and quickly grasp policy in various sectors, including willingness to tackle unfamiliar and challenging topics.
  • Knowledge of the interplay between EU, international, and national policy and its impact on businesses.
  • Strong networker with extensive contacts in Brussels and pan-European levels.
  • Experience in developing and implementing effective public affairs strategies, driving positive change.
