Fantastic opportunity for a Government Affairs professional to join a leading UK trade association, to lead their Brussels office and grow the organisation’s presence by strengthening their network with European institutions and other stakeholders. This is a key position where you would also act as a bridge between Brussels and London offices, with the support of a global team of experts and engineers.

Key Responsibilities:    

  • Head the Brussels office, manage and expand the organisation’s presence and network. 
  • Lead the planning, delivery, and reporting of an impactful political communication and engagement program at EU level. 
  • Organise impactful EU events and associated engagement with European institutions, UK representations, member states, sister associations, members and stakeholders. 
  • Develop and manage a network of trusted contacts, creating new opportunities and making strategic introductions for senior colleagues. 
  • Liaise with key EU representatives, the EU offices of business stakeholders, industry trade bodies and member state sister associations. Deliver relevant briefings and presentations for the Director of Policy and represent the organisation at internal and external meetings as required. 
  • Monitor and brief UK colleagues on regulatory dossiers and political developments. Coordinate the development and communication of the organisation’s EU policy position and consultation responses across strategic public policy issues affecting the UK industry.  

Key Requirements:   

  • Government Affairs professional with a relevant graduate degree, or equivalent, in UK or EU politics, international relations, economics or related disciplines. 
  • Demonstrated experience in EU public affairs, policy development and issue management within a Brussels-based corporate, political, government, trade association, or consultancy setting. 
  • In-depth knowledge of political processes and institutions in the EU and UK, with a strong understanding of key public policy issues impacting the transport industry. 
  • Excellent communication and networking skills, adept at producing influential documents and leading committees and political discussions for diverse audiences. 
  • Highly motivated team player with a hands-on approach, capable of strategic thinking and effective project management, and willing to travel regularly between the UK and the EU.  
  • Proficient in English (verbal and written) and ideally familiar with French or another official EU language.
